Giolleria · Cleaning & Care

Keep your moissanite brilliantly clear, every day.

A simple routine keeps sparkle high and settings secure. Here’s Giolleria’s care playbook—from quick at‑home cleaning to professional servicing.

Daily wipe

Use a lint‑free cloth after wear to remove oils and fingerprints.

Weekly refresh

Soak in warm water + a drop of mild dish soap for 10–15 minutes; brush gently; rinse and dry.

Annual check

Schedule a setting inspection & professional clean once a year—or sooner after a hard knock.

At‑home cleaning (step by step)

  1. Fill a bowl with warm water and add a drop of mild dish soap.
  2. Soak the piece for 10–15 minutes to lift oils and residue.
  3. Brush gently with a soft toothbrush, especially under the stone and around prongs.
  4. Rinse under clean running water; plug the sink or use a mesh strainer.
  5. Pat dry with a lint‑free cloth; air‑dry fully before storing.

Avoid: harsh chemicals (bleach, chlorine, acetone), abrasive powders, and hard scrubbing.

Deep cleaning & tools

  • Ultrasonic cleaners: Effective for oils but use with caution on delicate pavé/micro‑prong settings. Avoid if stones feel loose.
  • Steam cleaners: Good for final rinse; keep distance and avoid directing high pressure at prongs.
  • Jewelry wipes: Handy on the go—ensure non‑abrasive and safe for gold.
  • Polishing: Micro‑scratches on gold are normal; professional buffing/rhodium (white gold) restores finish.

Do’s & Don’ts

DoDon’t
Wipe with a lint‑free cloth after wearUse bleach, chlorine, acetone, or abrasive powders
Use warm water + mild dish soap weeklyWear during heavy lifting or impact sports
Store in a soft pouch or separate slotsToss pieces together in one box (scratches)
Check prongs if you snag on clothingIgnore rattling/tingling sounds around the stone
Remove for pool/hot tub/saunaExpose frequently to chlorine or strong heat

Storage & travel

  • Store individually—use pouches or a compartmentalized box to prevent scratching.
  • Keep away from direct heat and sunlight when stored long‑term.
  • Traveling? Carry in hand luggage; avoid checked baggage. Use a small travel case.

Metal‑specific tips

  • Yellow/Rose gold: Micro‑scratches are normal. Periodic polishing refreshes shine.
  • White gold: Rhodium plating wears with time; plan periodic re‑plating for a bright white finish.
  • Platinum: Develops a satin “patina” with wear—polishable if you prefer high gloss.

Frequently asked questions

Can I shower with my jewelry?

Occasional showering is fine, but soaps leave a film that dulls sparkle. Rinse and dry well; remove for frequent shampoo/conditioner use.

Is toothpaste safe for cleaning?

No—most toothpastes are abrasive. Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft brush instead.

Do ultrasonic cleaners loosen stones?

They can on already‑loose or delicate pavé settings. If you hear rattling or see movement, avoid ultrasonics and book an inspection.

How often should I re‑plate white gold?

Frequency depends on wear—typically every 12–24 months for daily rings. We’ll advise after inspection.
